New House Renovation

I am a Business Owner.  Many of my readers don't know this.  My husband and I are self employed.  We do not have a boss, a time card or set hours.  We are blessed and cursed.  Blessed because we can write our own ticket and cursed because we can write our own ticket.

We are a seasonal business, with a short window of time "off" in the summer.

Last spring, we hit the ground running and traveled the entire nation with our sales team to create new business opportunities. We are blessed to have a team of employees, rather partners, to work with us to build our growing company.  It was exhausting.  I think we set the world record for travel miles.  I have flown more in the last 6 months than I have ever flown in my life.

Like they say, you gotta spend money to make money...Er, something like that.

So, after months on the road, we wrapped up in mid-may with a house that was severely neglected, kids that needed a lot of time and attention and a husband/wife team that needed a lot of sleep, rest and R&R.

I'll admit, I've taken it to the extreme. I told my husband I needed two full weeks off.  No emails, no phones, no contracts, no bids, no NOTHING.  It's been more like five weeks. Today, I decided to sit in front of my computer and get started, only to find myself staring at my incredibly neglected blog.

So, what have I been doing?  This:

And This:

And This:

And this, too:

We've had our little foster babies over for sleepovers and swim dates.

We've survived driver's ed.  We've hosted a 4th of July Party with Friends and Family.

We've traveled to Chicago to see U2 in concert.  We traveled to Mexico and met our best friends there for a week of fun in the sun.
Now, I am looking forward to jumping back into life.  Our busy, chaotic, hectic, loving, full of friendships and little girls' life.  School is about to start...Hallelujah!  And we are ready to jump back into work.  Well, he is at least!  I'll plead the 5th.

Purposeful Posting

Hello from This Iowa Wife's Life

You may have noticed that I haven't blogged in over 9 months, and that everything I have previously written is gone.

I'm actually a little sad about loosing all of my past posts.

But, I am more excited to share with you that I am ready to start writing again.

Stay Tuned....
